根据《ESPN》的报导指出，现在效力于 Hawks 的小前锋球星 Chandler Parsons 于 16 日遭逢严重车祸，其篮球生涯恐将因此而提前报销。据悉今次意外是在 Parsons 练习完后从球场开车返家的途中，遭酒驾车辆追撞而发生；意外共波及到三辆车，而 Parsons 脑部也因此受到永久性伤害，另外还有椎间盘突出以及上唇部撕裂伤等等。
Parsons 的律师更表示其所受的伤害比原先预估的要来得严重许多，更可能因永久性伤害导致无法继续篮球运动。目前尚无法得知 Parsons 能否再重回球场，不过医疗团队正在努力恢复伤势中。Parsons 在 NBA 联盟中共待过 Rockets、Mavericks、Grizzlies、Hawks 等球队，职涯前期可谓屡创佳绩，更在 2016 年与 Memphis Grizzlies 签下 4 年 9,480 万美元的顶级合约，不过随后却因伤病缠身而三年仅出赛 95 场，渐渐淡出在萤光幕前。本季转战至 Hawks 后，Parsons 亦仅出赛 5 场比赛，上场机会并不多。如今年仅 31 岁的 Parsons 却遭遇重创，实属相当不舍与可惜；不管未来是否可再回到球场，都希望他能够恢复健康。
